Aviation and Spaceflight.

As a child, I had dreams of being able to fly like a bird... The dream became a reality when I was still at high school. A kind pilot took me for a flight in his motorized glider, and I was hooked. Within months I was gliding, skydiving and just generally in love with the air. It has been a few years since I last leapt from a plane, but I have logged over 380 skydives and still dream of free-fall. I am now working towards my glider pilot qualification and have over 40 hours in my logbook.

This interest, coupled with my passion for astronomy, naturally leads to a keen interest in spaceflight, both manned and unmanned. I have followed the progressive steps along the way with great enthusiasm, and at times, great sadness. From time to time, I step outside at night to watch the space shuttle and ISS glide 450Km overhead in perfect silence. Now THAT really must be the ultimate form of flight!
