P40 Shark.

A quiet hero of WWII, the Curtiss P40 Kittyhawk was produced in amazing numbers. 13,700 ultimately went into service, including this very aircraft that was based here in Masterton. The famous 'shark tooth' insignia was first painted on a P40 by a kiwi pilot. Photo details: Canon 40D, ISO 320, 1/1000th second exposure with a Canon EF 70-200mm IS USM lens @ f-7.1.
