The grand old lady of the Pacific war was not always the fastest. The Consolidated PBY-5A Catalina first flew in 1935 and was used for many roles. Arguably, the most important of these, was search and rescue of downed pilots. Here she is escorted by a Curtiss P40 Kittyhawk.
