Alpine environments are every bit as harsh as any desert. The main enemy is extreme cold and dry conditions. This frost plant has found a simple solution to the challenges. Plant anti-freeze stops the rupture of cell tissues, fine hairs keep frost off the leaf surface, and the leaves funnel thawing moisture directly to the plant's roots. Problems solved.
