Rare Beauty.

The grace of the Kotuku, or white heron, is undeniable when seen in person. However, that sighting is a rare opportunity. Due to its very low numbers of between 100-120 birds, the Kotuku holds an almost mythical place amongst Maori folklore, and a sighting is regarded as a once-in-a-lifetime treat for many. I certainly hope this is not my only chance to shoot such beauty. Photo details: Canon 350D, ISO 200, 1/500th second exposure with a Sigma 28-300mm lens @ f-9.
