Well Guarded
Treasure.

A remarkably small clutch of three
Pukeko eggs sits open in a field. You may be forgiven for thinking
they would be an easy target for predators, but no. The only way I
was brave enough to get this close to the nest was from the safety
of my car. Pukeko form large family groups that guard communal nests
with surprising aggression. Photo details: Canon 350D, ISO 200,
1/500th second exposure with a Sigma 18-200mm lens @ f-11.
