Dangerous Liaison.

A potentially deadly game of chess ensues as a male praying mantis (Orthodera ministralis) sides up to a female. The act of mating is often, if not usually, a last act for the smaller male. They are often seen headless, while still in the embrace of their mate. However, he decided today was not a good day to die and the would-be suitor fled before consummating or being consumed.
