One of our most beautiful butterflies starts life as a black and yellow larva. The Monarch, or Danaus plexipus, spends roughly two to three weeks in this disguise before pupating. Photo details: Canon 350D, ISO 200, 1/500th second exposure with a Canon EF 35mm lens @ f-8.
