Spectacular African.
 
 Just one of many African Cichlids housed at the National Aquarium of New Zealand, in Napier. This male mouth-brooder was easy to sex by its egg-spots on the anal fin. These are used during mating to make the female open her mouth (already containing the unfertilized eggs) so the male can fertilise them.
