Longer exposures reveal the coppery colour of approaching totality. A blue band can be seen along the edge of the shadow. This is an effect of ozone in our own atmosphere. Photo details: Canon 350D, ISO 800 @ prime focus through an 8 inch reflecting telescope, 1/2 second exposure.
